Hi friends! Today I am sharing all the ins and outs of our master bedroom makeover. If you are new here, my husband and I have been renovating our 1970s ranch style home to make it fit a more vintage country cottage feel. I hope you guys love this room as much as I do!
Vintage Country Master Bedroom Makeover + Simple Spring Decor
Let’s jump back real quick to before this blog was even created..
My husband and I bought our house, and our master bedroom was a space that quite honestly didn’t take high priority. It needed the least amount of renovations in comparison to the other parts of the house, so we did a few things right away and then just lived with it for a while.
Before moving in, we had the paneling patched. This is something we had done throughout our entire house. Dry wall wasn’t an affordable option at the time due to the pandemic, so a family friend patched/mudded our paneling for super cheap. Then, we popped a fresh coat of paint on everything.
I used Swiss Coffee by Benjamin Moore on the walls, and Chantilly Lace by Benjamin Moore on the ceilings, trim, and doors. We installed a new light fixture and changed the outlet covers. We also decided to tear out the carpet and replace the flooring. Then, we had new windows and AC/Heating installed throughout the house.
After those things were finished, I didn’t spend much time decorating. I used all our decor from our previous apartment, and we lived with it for quite a while. Months later, I decided it was time to tackle this room and turn it into a space that felt calm and happy.
The Makeover
The first step was switching out the bed. I wanted a vintage wooden bed, and it took months to find the perfect one because most vintage beds are either full size or twin. I found ours on Facebook Marketplace for $50 and ended up stripping and staining it.
Next, I purchased new nightstands which were yet again another Facebook marketplace find. I painted them Chantilly Lace by Benjamin Moore.
From there, I decided we needed an accent wall in order to close in such a large room. I shared how I DIY-ed this French style panel over on my Youtube channel. After building the panels, I painted it Stone Hearth by Benjamin Moore. It is one of my favorite colors that I have used in our house thus far.
The rest was simply decorating. Every piece of decor on the walls was either thrifted or gifted except for the print I purchased off of Etsy. Our rug came from Target, and the comforter set is from Amazon.
